Lorna Caddy

Lorna is an experienced media and IP lawyer, advising clients on reputational issues and intellectual property rights relevant to their brand, products and services.

She regularly works with clients on the protection, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights, as well as media issues. Lorna has significant experience, working with media and technology businesses and retailers. She has a track record advising high-profile corporate clients (including global brand owners) on contentious and non-contentious issues, including copyright infringement, trade mark infringement, comparative advertising and passing off claims.

Lorna advises both claimants and defendants on contentious media claims (e.g. defamation, privacy, confidential information, harassment), as well as providing pre-publication advice. She advises clients on digital media issues such as the removal of illegal content from social media platforms, and other issues relating to liability for, and moderation of, user-generated content.

Lorna has experience in advising on advertising issues, having advised advertising agencies and businesses on pre- and post-publication and broadcast issues, including in relation to ASA complaints.

In 2010, Lorna was recognised by The Lawyer magazine as one of “the most talented and promising legal practitioners at work today”. Over the years, she has been regularly quoted in the media, including the BBC and more specialist publications such as Entertainment Law Review and World Intellectual Property Review.

Before joining Himsworth Scott, Lorna spent 13 years at City law firm, Taylor Wessing LLP, where she worked for several leading publishers, many IP-rich businesses around the globe, and high-profile individuals.
